The HNSOP wishes to congratulate Lower Sackville's Gord Dwyer (#19) on being selected as a referee to work his first Stanley Cup Final. Gord was selected to referee the final between the Boston Bruins and the St. Louis Blues.

Gordie grew up officiating in the Sackville Minor Hockey system before moving into elite levels of hockey and the QMJHL. He was also an accomplished player, with Jr. A and Jr. B teams in Halifax.

He then left Nova Scotia to pursue a professional officiating career in the Central League and the AHL. He was hired by the NHL in 2003 and worked his first NHL game in 2005. He also worked as a referee in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Gord has always been willing to give back to the program whenever he's home, having attended the HNSOP Officiating Camps and other development events.

Congratulations to Gordie!
